American College of Dance National Conference

The American College Dance Association’s 2018 National College Dance Festival at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC presents three programs featuring some of the finest dance works selected from colleges and universities throughout the country. Dances are selected by the adjudicators from each of the 13 ACDA regional conferences based on their outstanding artistic excellence and merit. The primary objective of the National Festival is to highlight, on the national level, the outstanding quality of choreography and performance that is being created on college and university campuses.

Each program of the three programs showcases approximately ten dances, with a total of 30 schools participating in the Festival. A different dance program will be featured on each date at the matinee and evening performances.

Belhaven University will present Imag[(I)n]e choreographed by Erin Scheiwe Rockwell (Faculty)

Imag[(I)n]e uses multi-media in an imaginative and original way.  The dance goes beyond entertainment and conveys a universal message to the audience.

Some meaningful quotes from the adjudicators in the feedback session at the regional conference include:

-       This is the kind of piece that I want to see again and bring a friend.

-       I felt the need to walk out of the performance and create something.

-       From the beginning, we are transported to another world.

-       Whoever created this has a great career ahead of them.
